Product description

  • Ramshorn snails (Planorbis corneus) feed on algae, dead fish, dead plants and uneaten fish food.
  • They also eat carrots, so a carrot left in the pond makes it easy to lift out surplus snails. What do ramshorn snails eat?
  • They spend a lot of time on the sides of ponds searching for food, including dead or decaying plant matter, soft algae and uneaten fish food.
  • Lifespan: healthy, well fed ramshorn snails live for about one year.
  • They work best as part of a balanced pond rather than as an algae cure.
  • Ramshorn snails will generally eat algae, uneaten fish food and dead fish, helping to maintain a healthy pond balance.
  • Float the bag to equalise temperature before releasing them. They have a strong appetite and help keep algae in check.
  • Never release pond snails, plants or pond water into a natural watercourse. Grown or finished at our own Lincolnshire nursery.
