Product description

  • BASEC Approved 6242Y (6242YH) twin and earth cable made to BS 6004 — two solid plain-copper 1.0mm2 cores (brown / blue), 1.0mm2 bare copper earth (fit green/yellow sleeving), grey PVC sheath, 300/500V.
  • The standard UK size for domestic lighting circuits — ceiling roses, switch drops and LED lighting radials in homes and light commercial work.
  • Circuit design and installation to BS 7671 by a competent person. Rated up to 16A clipped direct (BS 7671 reference method C).
  • Actual capacity depends on installation method, grouping, insulation and run length — always check before sizing a circuit.
  • Solid-core T&E is meant to be stiff: it dresses cleanly into clips and trunking, holds its shape in back boxes and stays put once terminated.
  • It is not a flex — for appliance leads use flexible cable.
