  • BASEC Approved 6242Y (6242YH) twin and earth cable made to BS 6004 — two stranded plain-copper 6mm2 cores (brown / blue), 2.5mm2 bare copper earth (fit green/yellow sleeving), grey PVC sheath, 300/500V.
  • A commonly used UK size for cooker, shower and other higher-load radial circuits.
  • Circuit design, protective-device selection and installation must comply with BS 7671 and be completed by a competent person.
  • Rated up to 47A clipped direct (BS 7671 reference method C).
  • Actual capacity depends on installation method, grouping, insulation and run length — always check before sizing a circuit.
  • Stranded fixed-wiring T&E is deliberately stiff: it dresses into clips and trunking and stays put once terminated.
  • It is not a flex — for appliance leads use flexible cable. Cut fresh from the reel: lengths from 1m to 50m on this listing — pick your length above.
